Unenthused About This.

In the last four elections I have voted for the GOP Presidential Candidate as the lesser of two evils. Bush never was my first choice, but compared to Gore and Kerry he was paragon of brilliance and integrity (but that's not saying a whole lot as a dime is 10x as valuable as a penny, but still not worth much.)

I refuse to waste my vote on a third party candidate. The GOP is badly flawed while the DEM is rotten almost to the core and must not be allowed into power.

The last four elections I have wondered "Out of 300,000,000 people in America, these two were the best we could come up with?" Why won't those of integrity and competence run and win?

So many answers really.

Too many people want a government that will take care of them, not a government that will make it possible to take care of themselves. That is the legacy of the most over-rated president of the 20th century - - FDR. Now that his chickens are coming home to roost we begin to see what a disaster he really was for this country. He took a nation of proud, hard-working individualists, and turned us into a nation of clients to the welfare state. Welfare is good for those who truly cannot take care of themselves, but it destroys those who can take care of themselves. Modern Welfare is nothing more than buying votes with the tax-payers' money.

The press destroys so many people, and yet curiously protects its favorites, that only a narcissistic egomaniac would want to deal with it. Anymore you need to be an egomaniac to run for presidency. You need to have a vice in order to do it.

Both parties are corrupted by big money. (Oil and Defense Contractors on one side, Lawyers, Gangsters, Public Works Contractors and Government workers on the other.)

As I have said, the GOP is not nearly as bad as the Democrats and a 3rd party vote is a wasted vote. (I am completely closed off to any possibility of a 3rd party candidate -- a narrow mind can be a virtue at times.) Lesser of two evils gets my vote . . . again.

Ronald Reagan where are you?

Exactly! I think many who would be great presidents aren't in politics as they have too much integrity and humility to campaign.

Shoprat, I do believe McCain has personal integrity. I believe he actually believes strongly in what he says he believes in, like global warming for instance. I also believe he's wrong about it, and the proof of that is coming out in bits and pieces. For instance, the ocean waters are not heating, they're cooling. Anyone can google "Ocean waters cooling" to see that it's true. My point is that even though we may not agree with McCain on all the issues he is a man of good character and moral values, which the other two candidates know nothing about.

Personally I won't have any trouble voting for him, although I would have preferred a more conservative candidate.

Will disagree with your assessment of FDR "He took a nation of proud, hard-working individualists, and turned us into a nation of clients to the welfare state." IMO, the nation was is rather shabby shape when he was first elected. My father worked CCC in the late thirties and I hardly think he became a 'client' of a welfare state. IMO, FDR tilted the scales towards the working stiff, while
Reagan tilted them towards the
corporations (and both were very
skillful at appearing not to).
When you are old and ill, I hope you feel no shame in receiving the pittance from the government. As of today, SS has been self-sustaining for 65 years. It seems to be a concept defining liberal and conservative. "Welfare is good for those who truly cannot take care of themselves..Bear-Stearns?
No choice: despite removing the risk from investment and saving some wealthy investors, pre-emptive action by the Fed and Admin likely averted a depression.
The 87 year old widow with the walker up the street? Is the $587 a month she gets worth it? I'd really like to thinks so.

Vote with your left hand so you can keep your nostrils pinched shut with your right. I'm getting tired of voting for idiots. why do we weed out everybody with an IQ greater than their shoe size early in the primaries? just the biggest friggin Idiots are left this election, and the last several elections.
