Just A Thought
The right believes in themselves, their neighbors, God and their community. They trust nothing big, government or business.
Big business will play footsie with either side to get what they want.
Big government and big business draw exactly the same kinds of people and create the same kinds of problems. Wherever there is power, even in big religion, people hungry for power over others will be drawn. That is why we need not only three branches of government, but three levels: local, state and federal, with power so spread out that no one ever really holds final power.

Good thought. Only one problem. With "The One" taking power, more and more power will be pulled to D.C. like cheetos through a shop-vac.
The days of government of the people, by the people, and for the people are over.
I'm thinking of taking odds and dates when the first constitutional amendment will be voted on. I'll give him 3 months. No more.
The right believe in God, guns and apparently beer. They don't want to pay taxes or help their fellow man, all while reading from the Bible. They are as far from the example of what Jesus would do as you can get.
Douchewolf, sorry, you're giving him 4 years, not 3 months. You have no choice.
it's no wonder you're anonymous - you're so wrong it's amazing. can someone actually be so naive?
We do help our fellow man by opening our own wallets and our own banking accounts to use our own money to help our neighbors. Liberals tax other people and use other people's money and take credit for doing good while actually doing nothing. We do believe in charity but we don't believe the state is the best way to do it.
furthermore, wasn't it a liberal named Tim Geithner, slated to be on the Obamassiah's cabinet who is in trouble for failure to pay a considerable amount of taxes?
Annonymous (what a daring feat, posting without a link to track back to), conservatives give more to charity than liberals, a study was released during the campaign. This includes the liberal-in-chief who gave less than 1% of his income to charity.
As far as libs paying taxes, Geithner is not the only one. George Soros, the man who bought the presidency for Osama, has always attacked Bush for his "tax cuts for the wealthy". Turns out billionaire Soros puts all of his money offshore to avoid paying taxes in the US.
Bottom line, liberals are full of sh!!.
Shoprat, I see where you're going with it, but wouldn't that just make three areas of power that the everyday citizen has to endure? I opt for educating the people through simplistic means, i.e.
Do you want the government to tell you how to live your life?
Do you want the government to tell you what doctor you can go and how many times you can go?
Do you want the government to take money out of you checking account to pay the rent for someone who is able to work but refuses to?
These are just a few of the questions I ask people.
Blessings.
The first constitutional amendment I would like to see will NEVER pass. It should be against the constitution for the Senate, the House, and the Presidency to be controlled by just 1 party, EVER. And that goes for either/any party! The next 4 years will seem like an eternity!
I'd like to see the Federal government give up their jurisdiction to local municipalities. Nice dream, but keep dreamin'.
Yes, Anon is so wrong he is amazing: "The right believe in God, guns and apparently beer. They don't want to pay taxes or help their fellow man"
I have never, ever seen the "no taxes" view, except among Randists. And those are very few, and are not part of the conservative movement.
Average: The Constitution does not recognize political parties, and for good reason. I would strongly oppose such an amendment. Besides, if it were passed, it would be easy for a political party to work around it.
Chuck: The "Bush tax cuts for the rich" thing is such a lie. Most people who got to keep more of their own money under the tax cuts were non-rich.
Anon-y-moose: it has already been proven that Conservatives and those based in religion donate MORE to charity than any on the Left. It has already been proven that there are more Demorat MILLIONAIRES in Congress than Republicans.
But in terms of Demorat vs. strict Republican (vs Conservative) there isn't more than a dime's worth of difference between the two. Neither have huevos.
BZ
Greywolfe: a constitutional amendment has to be passed by 3/4 of the state legislatures. You think that's going to happen in 3 months?
BZ:"It has already been proven that there are more Democrat MILLIONAIRES in Congress than Republicans." Is this so proven that it doesn't require a link?
Shoprat: You say that the right trusts nothing big. Yet, the right was very trusting of the Bush big government when they said it was necessary to go to war against Iraq. They trusted him not to abuse the power of surveillance giving him carte blanche to tap phones, read e-mail,etc. They trusted him to only torture those who had valuable intel that would prevent attacks. Did you support the president when he wanted to reform SS by dumping it all in the stock market, as well? There are people on the right who say they don't trust big gov't, and maybe they don't. Maybe they are just followers of authoritarian leaders.
Forgot about the Homeland Security Live Alert. Do you even trust the government to tell you when to be afraid?
No it has to be RATIFIED by 3/4 of the States. That has NOTHING to do with what I posted. If you wish to denigrate something I say, at least read my comment first.
DLWB Conservatives do give more of their personal means. Try this article from the New York Times by liberal for a link.

Well said Rat!
The right believes in themselves, their neighbors, God and their community.

And the left doesn't? Where do you come up with this cliched nonsense?
Mea culpa, Greywolfe, you are correct.
You're still wrong that there is going to be a constitutional amendment introduced in the next 3 months or, probably, 4 years.
My comment on the posting had to do with the right's trust (submissiveness, even) of the government the past 8 years. I have no idea whether right or left is more generous. I'm more concerned about the tendency of some to genuflect to authority figures. Throughout history that has not worked out well.
I don't think right and left even mean much anymore. I'm only using the terms as shorthand for supporters of the respective parties.
I opine we are going to wait and see regarding the question of a constitutional amendment. Only time will tell, but I tend to agree with Greywolfe. (Odd that I should come here right after posting about President Bush removing Grey Wolves from the endangered species list. LOL! You need to be careful out there now, Greywolfe! ;)
Shoprat, would this not be an even bigger problem if we had three levels of government? Wouldn't they all become there own version of what we have now? I'm asking because I think you'll have locals hurting the peopple then the state hurting the locals that are hurting the people, etc.
"They don't want to pay taxes or help their fellow man, all while reading from the Bible."
Any idea who runs more hospitals around the world than any other group? (Hint: it isn't the atheists)
Any idea who feeds more homeless people than any other group? (Hint: it isn't the government)
Any idea who aids more in times of disaster than any other group? (Hint: It still isn't the government)
Joe, you forgot to tell 'em that you can't read the Bible and then still not help your fellow man. It's impossible unless you just view the Bible as just another book in the library.
Blessings.
The Founders found a great system..and shoprat has summed that system well...centralized power breeds tyranny ...layered governing stops rapid power grabs-and gives direct voice to the governed...
I'll take the Republic as it was outlined in the several Founding documents...
C-CS
My whole idea is the decentralization of power protects people from the power hungry and power mad which controls both government and business. I believe this is indeed one of the founding fathers' best ideas. It is completely lost.
@baker: Yet, the right was very trusting of the Bush big government when they said it was necessary to go to war against Iraq."
Because it was necessary.
"Did you support the president when he wanted to reform SS by dumping it all in the stock market, as well?"
The policy was to dump a FEW PERCENT into the stock market. A wise and cautious proposal, that was entirely voluntary. It is still a good idea.
"Maybe they are just followers of authoritarian leaders."
Except no authoritarian leaders have been discussed.
Any idea who feeds more homeless people than any other group? (Hint: it isn't the government)

Well around here Joe it's the Greater Boston Food Bank. They manage food pantries that serve about five million people.
The are centralized, efficient and secular.
