An Interesting Poll

Practically speaking, polls are about as useful as racing stripes on a tortoise. They are often misleading, yet they also an interesting snapshot of what people are thinking at a given time. There are two kinds of fools when it comes to polls: those who live by them and those who ignore them.

CBS news has just released a very interesting one on the public perception of religions. What they found interesting was this:

WHAT IS YOUR IMPRESSION OF ISLAM?
FAVORABLE Now 19% 2002 30%
UNFAVORABLE Now 45% 2002 33%

I also noted this:
CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALISTS RELIGIONS
Favorable 31%
Unfavorable 31%
Don't Know 38%

I noticed that they did not list Atheism, especially militant and fundamentalistic Atheism, and I would like to have seen the public attitude toward those beliefs.

I posted a poll about a month ago that showed that people trusted atheists less than they trusted Muslims.
