A Simple Observation

No link here.

We are getting tired of the meaningless mantra of We can't drill ourselves out of this mess. It's partly true. Drilling alone will not do it as we do need alternative energy sources (like nuclear) and we do need to make reasonable reductions in usage..

However.

There is no workable solution that does not include drilling our own oil.

Drilling is merely a start, and one of many choices we need to explore ... without the Loony Left continuing to push us into an economic depression to facilitate our total capitulation to Socialism.

Drill here! Drill now! Smother all the lawyers!

Oops, I got carried away. ;)

Concur. And Pelosi is finally beginning to come around, I believe -- and that is what makes the situation SO damned maddening!

At a time when the GOP controls little, a lame and hated duck in the White House, the Demorats STILL cannot manage to steamroller EVERYTHING through Congress. This is THE perfect time for the GOP to RISE UP in a massive wave and take it to the Demorats, in a similar fashion to their energy stance.

But the GOP REFUSES to TAKE ADVANTAGE of this situation! They are weak, yet at this point the Demorats are even WEAKER. Why can't Conservatives see this and act accordingly?

Frustrating!

Hopefully, voters will realize that the high energy/ gas prices and the resulting inflated prices we are paying for everything else don't matter nearly as much to the Democrats as partisan politics and their devotion to their environmentalist sponsors do, and vote accordingly in November.

While we do need alternative energy sources, we can't simply cut off present sources and grind our society to a halt while we develop them.

Ah, Utopian liberals...

I don't think that is what Obama is advocating. He has said that he would be willing to be pragmatic on drilling and nuclear as part of an energy policy that, like Shoprat suggests, is comprehensive and incorporates green sources of energy and conservation.

Oil has gone down %20 in the last few weeks because people are driving less and going the speed limit. Conservation will help get the price of gas down. When plug in hybrids are available on the mass market, that could put a huge dent in the price of gas. I do think the the days of the Hummer and Escalade are over for the forseeable future.

Even if the price of oil has gone down, we are buying way too much of it from sources hostile to our way of life. We need to depend less on Arabs, Russia and Venezuela for our oil as none of these are really our friends.

there is simply no way that we can completely get away from oil - just cannot happen. have ya ever stopped to think of all the things that are produced by oil or some byproduct thereof? plastics, makeup (lipstick specifically), chapstick, vaseline, almost everything we use on a daily basis can somehow be traced back to oil! so these eco-idiots and their alternative energy sources have got to understand that oil will be here forever - we will never, ever be totally oil free. we can have alternate energy sources, but not alternative energy replacements!

I sent in $10 to Newt's, "Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less" group and got 2 bumper stickers that have the slogan on it.

The American people overwhelmingly want us to drill here. The Dems may keep saying "we can't drill our way out of this mess" but the facts say otherwise.

BZ..Republicans eat their young. No matter WHAT opportunity gets handed to them, they mess it up in Congress. Graham and THUNE approved a huge rise in taxes to the oil companies!
Pelosi has tons of stock in alternate energy and oil; who talks about that but conservative, demonized talk radio?

I got five bumper stickers from the American Solutions website and gave two of them away. They still need several thousand signatures to reach the 2 million that they want, so if you or any of your readers haven't signed it, I hope you will.

I agree with you, Shoprat. We need to drill!
