I Need Some Discipline

When I first started this I posted a couple of times a day and kept busy at it. I only worked about a mile away so I would walk to work, walk home, and along the way back would buy a newspaper and read it while I ate lunch (I got out of work at 1:30 PM), and then post on what I read. My whole schedule seems to have changed.

Now I post maybe twice a week, which is not enough.

Big problem? Two of them. Computer games and You Tube music videos. Both are so addicting and I waste a lot of time with them.

I need to work on that and try to go no more than 48 hours between posts. It's not the end of the world if I don't post but there is no excuse for it.

Now I have to go to work shortly. Maybe I should start taking Newspapers.

Newspapers? Ye gads, Shoprat! Whatever for? LOL!

You don't have to post if you don't feel like it, ya know. I check you out almost daily, and when there's no new post I just think you're doing something else that's more enjoyable. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I spend too much time playing Chess against the pc. The darn program is lousy on offense but fantastic on defense. It's always forcing me to go on the attack and then it's really hard to win by checkmate, but I do manage to win about half the time. I think it's harder playing against a real person. It's amazing though that a computer can play chess!

BTW: Your homepage isn't working. It's missing the .com at the end. I copied it and here's how it reads:
http://gluxian.blogspot/

Just thought you should know. I wonder how that happens, because it used to work just fine.

Each blog has its own set of personal conventions. I know mine and you know yours. I only write about mine because they seem to work for me.

I try to post at least once a day. Every once in awhile I'll make a double daily post or, if the news is fast and flying, I'll make a triple post. Those are rare.

I personally enjoy reading those who post daily. I'm about to adjust, again, my The Usual Suspects list in order to place those who post at least daily at the top of the list.

I have to admit, I'm an ACTIVITY junkie. I like to visit blogs that are active and posted by persons who are frequent updaters. I'm not saying this is either right or wrong; it's simply a personal preference.

On my blog, in terms of conventions, I also like to include at least one photograph that is pertinent to the issue at hand. Sometimes, if the photo is placed left then the subject is left-leaning. If the photo is placed right, then the subject is right-leaning.

I like to have as many veracity-enhancing links as possible.

My problem is the lead post title. Sometimes I can be too obscure with the title. I am finally learning to make the lead title more specifically applicable to the post itself.

And sometimes I can provide simply too much immediate content. I try to tread the middle ground between too much written content and too little.

I personally despise blogs whose individual posts are nothing but a series of links with a sentence or two of writing. I think these are lazy writers. I visit blogs for not only philosophical bent but for immediate information as well.

When I find myself shuttled off onto nothing but a series of links I only conclude the writer is lazy and arrogant. Too many links and you simply lose me. I don't have the damned time.

I say: give me the information or the opinion up FRONT, and THEN provide me with the applicable links.

All that just seems to work for me.

I have been thinking of de-linking you. Basically because you never visit mine anymore. I'm having an amazing adventure and you don't seem interested because it's not about slamming Obama.

Gayle the homepage is easy to fix.

BZ I do enjoy your blog, but there are blogs who post so often that you can't keep up with them. Like a couple that post five and six times a day.

Tim Nothing personal was intended. I have been remiss at visiting a lot of blogs, like I said "no excuse" just wasting too much time on stupid things.

Yes, there are some of those blogs. I likewise can't keep up with them and, resultingly, I don't visit them or feature them on my The Usual Suspects list.

In MY universe there is a happy medium.

Shoprat, the fun of blogging is posting when you feel like it and visiting sites how often you choose. It's fun but life is more important.

I find myself not posting as much, but for different reasons:

1. Work load at the end of the school term.

2. A general malaise as to the present political situation -- all the ostriching, dhimmitude, and Obama-worshiping.

3. I'm trying to get some pleasure reading done -- something I've rarely done since 9/11.

Sometimes I don't post very often because others are doing such a good job. I find myself reading a lot and commenting less these days.

Shoprat, let me be very selfish here and rub salt in your wound by saying I check your site nearly every day and am always a tad disappointed when you haven't a new one! Sorry, but that's the truth and I'm stickin' to it.
Thank you for coming by as often as you do to geeeeZ, it's a pleasure and even more precious now.

(I had to take FreeCell OFF my computer to stop...now I'm stuck on internet backgammon..don't start!)

Obviously, write when you feel you want to, but know you're missed when you're not able to write more regularly!! xxx

Shoprat,

I'm currently in a phase of non-committal blogging. I used to post frequently and with much more research and better analysis (I'd like to think).

I'm not too stressed out about losing readership, as I know those I consider "friends" on the 'net will still stop by for a visit, however infrequently.

Since you enjoy YouTube music vids, why not post what you're watching/listening to? At least it's something; and can be done on the quick.

Skip, no thanks. CivIII is addicting enough.

Z I intend to post more but I guess I'm just in a rut.

Wordsmith. That would be a simple posting but would get tiring after a while.

AOW Malaise might be part of the problem.

Chuck Yes Life is more important.

I can relate. I love to read lots of blogs & I would love to have more time to squeeze in blogging & commenting, but there's never enough time in the day to get everything done. We do what we can. I'm still reading a lot, but finding less time to comment. I also haven't been posting very often because others are doing such a good job.
