It's Really, Really Bad For You

Some health crusaders want warning labels on soft drinks (we just call it "pop" here but it's "soda" in other parts of the country). Seems that 1/5 of our calories comes from liquids.

I have mixed feelings about this. I do drink a lot of pop (local water is Yeech). but very little of it has caffeine and 90% of it is diet. (caffeine free Diet Coke). I certainly don't agree with that idiot who wants a fat tax on these things.

No question about it; a lot of sugar causes weight to go up, but we do not need more regulations to change this. What we need is to educate people of the dangers of excessive sugar and to encourage other drinks and diet soft drinks instead.

Nah. Some people just need an excuse to hire a few more meddling government officials.

This is just an excuse to scam more cash for the socialist cause. People just have to get off their butt and move around a bit. Society has made everyone lazy with convenience.

I worry about the carbonation, so I drink the knockoff of crystal lite...strawberry. It's good! I have a friend that weighs over 200 pounds. She complains that she doesn't eat that much. I know she drinks A LOT of Pepsi. When I told her I thought that might be part of the problem, it made her mad. So, are the warning labels going to make any difference?

I'm sorry but I don't want the government meddling in what I eat and drink. Give me a break. Everyone knows that pop isn't great for you. I guzzle caffeine-free coke all the while knowing it isn't great for me but it's my choice. No one is responsible in society anymore. We don't need warning labels, most of us aren't stupid!! Sheesh!!

Okay, one from the other side...I drink ALOT of Mt Dew (and yes, Busch Lite) a warning label isn't going to change what I do or many others either, They put WL's on cigarettes and I still smoke a pack a day (I Know I know)

Personal choice rules! Wait until the Nutrition Police come knocking on your door and say, "Excuse us, but you've had two pops today. You are only allowed one every two days on your dietary plan. That violation is a $25 fine. Have a nice day..."

ABF Those people will do anything to get more of our money and more control over us.

LP If that is what you like drink it. That should be the idea.

LMC Caffeine-free diet coke isn't really that bad, except for the soda effects.

Skip Warning labels do no more than move responsibility around.

tom Don't give em any ideas.

That's funny- down South it's just "coke". "You want a coke? What kind?" :)

I have to say- is anyone really so stupid they don't know soft drinks are bad for them? I think the food police need to back off and do something useful for a change.
