Trivia -- Goofy Grape

In the mid 60s through the late 70s, Pillsbury challenged Kool Aid with their own fruit flavored drink mixes with a crazy a character associated with each flavor. They were called Funny Face and Goofy Grape was the flagship flavor they offered.

Do you remember these?
How many flavors and characters of Funny Face Drink Mix can you name from memory?

Do you remember, or is it my imagination, King Stir (Drink mix on a swizzle stick that you stirred into water) or Shake-A-Pudding? Now I am really dating myself. How about Space Food Sticks?

I can barely remember Goofy Grape. I don't remember any of the other things. Darn, they sound like fun!

My parents didn't indulge their offspring with all those neat things, so even though I know I'm old enough to remember them, I can't.

One thing I do remember is a little teeny square package, just a bit larger than a postage stamp. Inside were teensy black squares of candy called Sen-Sen. Do you remember those?

Yeah, they were like fruit-flavored Alka-seltzers or King Stir without the stick, but I cannot remember what they were called.

My favorite was Rootin Tootin Raspberry or Loud Mouth Punch

Wow, I'd forgotten all about Goofy Grape! Now I suddenly miss it.

And Space Food Sticks too.

And I'm still mourning the sudden and unexplained disappearance of Breakfast Squares. It was like having a brownie for breakfast -- and mom didn't object! Mmmmmmmmm! (I think they've got some new thing called "Breakfast Squares" on the shelf now, but it's completely different.)

I used to ponder why Breakfast Squares had disappeared. Did they secretly discover that they contained an unhealthy ingredient? Did they not sell well enough? They were certainly popular in my family. Why, oh why, were they gone from all the store shelves? Why? Why? WHY?

Speaking of breakfast foods, I also miss Quake and Quisp. Remember them? I was a Quisp person. The little saucers held tiny dollops of milk beautifully. Each bite was like its own tiny cereal bowl filled with milk. But they're gone too.

Good thing Honeycomb cereal is still around, or I'd be a complete wreck.

Gee whiz, no one remembers old buddy, Jolly Ollie Orange (briefly and previously known as Injun Orange)? Then there were Loudmouth Lime and Lefty Lemon. Choo Choo Cherry was originally "Chinese Cherry". I owned several of their plastic mugs (free for so many box tops through the Funny Face Fan Club).

Gayle, (I do remember is a little teeny square package, just a bit larger than a postage stamp.) Actually the package was about 2" high by 1.75" wide...still is:

I remember King Stir, but didn't find it as exhilerating as "fizzies." Shake-A-Pudding I seem to recall being advertised on the original "Batman" show. And I remember how disappointed I was when I was looking for Space Food Sticks in the 80's, and they seemed to have been discontinued.

King Stir, marketed in the Midwest in the early 1960's. Didn't last long. Basically a Fizzie on a swizzle stick.

TV jingle has been imprinted onto my brain pan:

I'm stirring, I'm stirring
Look Ma! I'm stirring!
Lots of fun for everyone
A brand new kind of mixer
Sweet bubbly drinks
Quick as a wink
It's even fun to fix-ah
New King Stir
It's (boomp, boomp, boomp) Stir-licious!
