I hope I fixed it

The last few weeks have been very frustrating to get on line, and it has little if anything to do with news, posts, and comments. My IE had created a ghost explorer and was keeping my computer so tied up that I wanted to throw it out the window into the street below. I tried to install IE7 a couple of weeks ago and wound up in a loop that I couldn't get out of. Today I totally disabled IE6 and tried again with IE7. So far so good.

Maybe now I can spend a bit more time on line.

Glad you got the problem worked out. When I am using a tape gun to package up items to send off to Iraq, I get so ticked-off at that thing, I have wanted, more times than I care to admit, whipping it out the window, chasing it and then jumping up and down on it!! Master of a tape gun, I am not. I think I might start a support group for those tape-gun/technologically challenged!

I am SO tempted to leave the PC world and migrate over to APPLE.

Do you run PC or Apple?

majorgeeks.com has some downloads that can totally uninstall IE. Just download Firefox, the uninstall of your choice and re-download IE from F/F.

My browser of choice is F/F just because it doesn't collect the spyware that IE does.

Ebyjo had the same problem awhile back, sounds like the exact same thing. She had to scrap it, and got her a new one because she was in college working on her masters degree as she is a school teacher and couldn't mess around with it...

Definitely agree to put firefox or Opera on as a second browser. However, I still find sites that behave badly with both of them. A few I have to be able to hit for work, so IE is a necessity.

Firefox hasn't let me down. It is my browser of choice.

Of course, my sister uses an Apple product (I can't remember which one), and has no PC-type internet problems at all. Since I'm not a graphic designer, I stick with the PC.

I ment that you can completely wipe IE and then reinstall it.
I have IE because of the sites that only want to work with IE.

I use Firefox all the time. Haven't had any problems with it on IE specific sites (just be sure that you have it updated to the latest release - 2.0+)
