Solve One Problem by Creating a Bigger One

There is an old proverb about jumping out of the frying pan and landing in the fire. We all do it from time to time and our environmentally conscious "friends" have really done it.

Fluorescent light bulbs are supposed to be a Godsend that would save us countless dollars on energy use and are friendlier to the environment. Or are they?

Break a incandescent light bulb you just clean it up.

Break a fluorescent light bulb and you may have a big problem. The things contain deadly amounts of mercury and you have to go through a carefully explained protocol for cleaning the darned things up. One story said that it could cost $2000 to clean up the mess, Snopes says that the amount is an exaggeration, but the story is basically true.

Hmmm. Maybe we ought to just go back to torches and candles.

Nope. Can't do that. Carbon Monoxide and smoke, not to mention killing animals to get some of the materials for candlemaking.

Maybe we should just stay in the dark.

LOL! I don't think staying in the dark is a very good option... but you are right about those fluorescent light bulbs. I'm sticking with incadescent lightbulbs as long as they sell them, goofy environmentalists can go hang! We own a forest of trees out here so my carbon offsets are good! LMAO! These people are certifiably insane!

I say "we own" a forest, but we really don't. We just get to live here and pay property taxes until we are dead, (and a death tax after that) and then someone else can "own" the acreage and the forest and the mineral rights and pay the property taxes, but it's all God's land in the long run.

Liberals never solve anything, Shoprat. They simply bugger up the works!

By the way, you are the first blogger to unwittingly contribute to my new blog "LIBERAL LUNACY." No one even knows about it yet, but I'll be posting about it tomorrow. I'm not taking comments on it (no time for that) but am compiling as much liberal foolishness in one place as possible. I know I can't get all of the foolishness, I'd need a staff for that!

Perhaps I should have asked your permission first. If you have any objection I'll remove it and no hard feelings, I promise.

It's like in Temecula where an insect has been chewing up the winery grapes, so they introduced a natural predator to solve the problem, and now the predator causing a bigger problem . . . and the idiocy goes on and on and on and on and on . . .

Sounds like a liberal agenda to me:

Once they legislate mandatory use of the fluorescent bulbs, their trial lawyers (Edwards types) will have a whole new cottage industry in sueing bulb manufacturers for mercury contamination every time some potential client breaks one in his/her home.

You just can't win with lefties.

I didn't know that about the light bulbs! I just bought some of those to save money on the utility bill.

I have noticed something about a lot of these "intelligent" types. They lack common sense.

by now you should realize that leftards are all about soundbites .... "if it feels good, do it" has given way to "if it sounds good ..."
the eco-freaks do not, in any way, show that it is a cult. Pure. And Simple.
