The Lesser of Two Evils

So Dobson will support a 3rd party candidate rather than McCain.

Now to be honest, McCain is not my first choice. I have not had my first choice on the ballot since Reagan was in the White House.

However in politics you have to make choices and compromises and the lesser of two evils may be a great deal better than the greater of two evils.

The above may be a joke that no sane person would take seriously, yet it does say something. (Not even the greatest fool in the world would want ol' squid jowls for president.) Sometimes we select the lesser evil simply because the greater evil is far too much to tolerate while we can live with the lesser evil.

Besides, are McCain, Guiliani etc. truly evil or just flawed men? A well thought out and well written article by the American Thinker shows that even our greatest presidents were flawed. They were human. If we are looking for a perfect man to be president well I can think of a retort given to a young lady describing the man she was looking for to marry.

I knew a man like that once. He was crucified two thousand years ago.

There has only been one perfect man in history and He was crucified.

The article points out that the most sanctimonious president (Jimmy Carter) was a total disaster for this country, while decent but flawed men were the onces who led us through hard times. Even King David, whom God Himself praised as a truly great king, was a badly flawed human.

As far as Hillary's healthcare etc. (assuming she truly cares and is not simply grabbing for power by any means possible) goes I remember another proverb:

The Road to Hell is paved with good intentions.

Extremely well said!!

I just got done posting on this exact subject. Dobson was on Sean Hannity's show today and I was able to call in and get through on the show.

I'll take Cthulhu over McCain, Ghouliani, Romney, and anyone on the Demonrat ticket. In a choice between Fred Thompson and Cthulhu, I would have to think long and hard before making a decision...

I saw Dee's post on this same subject. Dobson is going to do a lot of damage if he continues on like this. I'm very concerned. I don't know how much influence Dobson will have politically and this is scary because Hillary is scary! The road to Hell is indeed paved with good intentions, whether or not they are actually good intentions or pretended good intentions. Either way, she'd be a disaster!

Very well said. Every human being is flawed. My only concern would be the types of flaws and severity of them.

Right now, we have the greater of two evils in GWB.
I will not vote for anyone who refuses to wind down the Iraq war. Of the Republicans, I'd look at Guilianni, Romney (although the Mormon thing really frightens me, he at least seems to have an excellent mind between his two ears). That Law and Order actor will flop: he just doesn't care enough to really mount an agressive campaign.Stage presence will only go so far. I'd rather see Clint Eastwood!Ron Paul is closest to what I'd like to see in a president, a true LIBRETARIAN, but alas, the republican smear machine will cast him as a kook or even worse, a "liberal". Of the Democrats, Bill Richardson seems to have the resume to run with the big dogs, but since he is Hispanic, he'll not get too far with Gayle and her crowd. Obama is probably the only electable candidate the Dems can field, although Edwards is a long shot. You guys should PRAY that they nominate Hillary! If they do, ANY REPUBLICAN will be the winner.

Gosh, I wish Tim was correct ... but look how close the last 2 elections were with utter clowns representing the distaff side. Owlgore almost stole the election with many, many thousands of dead people, and even more illegal immigrants voting for him ... and the liberal machine churning out as many illigitimate ballots as possible.
JFinK nearly managed to steal the election as well, but the liberal machine failed again.
If they run Hillary, it's going to be very very scary. Considering how she and her insignificant other are so exceptionally good at using the smear machine, garnering illegal funds, and misusing the system ... I can see an election going her way. And then I can see hell on earth.

As for Ron Paul ... I always love Libertines ... they really manage to draw the kooks out for support. I thought Moveon had some fruitcakes ... but RuPaul seems to be able to get folks who implant tinfoil instead of just wear it.
Libertarian ... now THERE would be an interesting exercise in unintended consequences. Of course, having a president with no connection to either side would end up in 4 years of veto gridlock ... and that couldn't be a bad thing ... the more time those pondscum spend fighting each other, the less time they have for screwing the country.

I'll vote for any of the Republican candidates before any of the Dems. What Dobson is doing is very unfortunate.
