Bad News -- Unemployment Down In Michigan

No I am not being sarcastic or anything nor is that a typo.

Michigan lost another 19,000 jobs in May yet the state's unemployment rate dropped. That is because many people have left the state for greener pastures. People are giving up on The Great Lakes State.

I can think of nothing more to say about this at this point in time. Michigan is my home and I hate what is happening to it. It is depressing.

I too am saddened by events in our state. I just got back from Youngstown Ohio and the situation there is even worse. It makes Flint look good.
I don't think there is an answer to turning this state around. I think it will just slowly decline year by year and more people will leave. After my kids are done with school my wife and I are thinking about Florida possibly.

I'm really sorry to hear that Shoprat and Tim. Wish there was something we could do to send some of what's happening here down to you guys. Hopefully something will break out soon and turn it around. If only your State could get involved on some of the pre-fab of some of these large industrial projects happening... it would help you and help us as well.

Ok Shoprat, I'm looking for a reason and a place to go. I've got to get out of this liberal state, to many people moving here, traffic sucks. let them leave enjoy the space and I'll be coming soon.

Sorry that you're depressed SR. I don't know much about politics or economics, but I know I feel bad when a friend is down. Cyberhugs and a little prayer. Hey, that NewLineOfWork.com looks interesting.

I think shortly Wisconsin will be joining you in that "people are leaving" mode. Milwaukee is dying, and of course the solution being bandied about is a new tax (yeah, that attracts people).

tim It is difficult to believe that any town would make Flint look good unless you've seen Saginaw.

abf We do need more diversity in our industry and we need it badly.
But the business climate in this state is horrid.

Bushwack Glad to have you.

lp I was only depressed for maybe a half hour or so and quickly got over it. My job is not in any immenent danger.

cp some politicians don't know food from poison.

I'm glad to hear that your job isn't in any immediate danger, but I'm sad to hear about the economy there. Michigan is such a gorgeous state. I hope something turns around soon.

Blessings!

It is sad.
And I doubt they're moving to Ohio, either. Especially if they're looking for manufacturing jobs.

I just hope if my plant shuts down here my only option is NOT Saginaw.

No offense, but I've been there enough times to last a couple of lifetimes.
