1960s -- Overpopulation! Famines by the mid-70s!
1970s -- A new ice age! Crop failures and famines real soon!
1980s -- Acid Rain! The rain would eat through and kill everything! We're doomed!
1990s -- Hole in the ozone layer! We're all going to get cancer and die!
2000s -- Global Warming! We're doomed I tell you! . . Doomed!
What's next?
Problem is when a real crisis hits these idiots will be the last ones to notice.

A very good point.
They'll find something new... food is one that's popping up more and more...
And even if they stumble on the real problem, no-one will take them seriously because of all the *wolf!* calls already.
I learned several years ago that if an issue is surrounded by large amounts of hysteria, the hysterics are always on the wrong side. Hasn't failed me yet. :-)
Wow, I forgot all about the acid rain and the hole in the ozone layer... have we somehow managed to survive?
For those of us who miraculously have, I suppose global warming will get us or, surviving that, we'll certainly get nailed by whatever comes next.
You're absolutely right, Shoprat, and it's already being proven. There is a real crisis, Terrorism, and the fools are in denial.
Ha! I grew up in the 80s and I can remember being afraid of "acid rain." How ridiculous!
Oh, and it's no longer "global warming" - it's "climate change." That way, whatever happens, it's vague enough that the libs will always be correct...

by science and people that care let's you scoff, but modern stack scrubbers, catalytic converters and
freon substitutes are not imaginary.

It's not a question of whether or not these problems existed and were/could be fixed. It was a question of would-be dictators using these problems to instill a panic and thus gain control over other peoples' lives and property.
Notice we got a handle on these problems without resorting to socialism, and socialism (not the environment) is the real concern of these people. As problem is brought under control or fades without resorting to socialism, the left needs a new crisis in order to keep up their goal.
