Just a Stupid Question
We all know the stuff that is called by several names including "decorative corn", "colored corn" and its (probably unPC) old name "Indian corn".
My question is has anyone ever eaten this stuff? Does it taste different? It's always dried and inedible in the stores and the local farmers' market but I'm just curious.
I know, I know, dumb question.

It may be a dumb question, but I've often thought it myself.
Unfortunately, I don't have an answer.
I'm sure it tastes just fine, and it's certainly colorful!
good question....do they make popcorn from it? can't say i've ever seen it in a state that you could eat it - - like fresh corn...
like you said - it's always dry..
I still use the term Indian corn. I think you can eat it but it is like cattle corn. It is a good question.
We've popped it in a hot air popper and it was really good. No butter on it, just a bit of salt and it went just as fast as the packaged stuff as our 2 yo and 4 yo ate it up during a movie.
I've never seen them in anything other than a dry, hard and brittle condition -- a condition that my teeth refuse to consider.

remember that the indians didn't eat maize the way we do .... soaked and pounded into mush and fired or roasted. As I recall, it was commonly eaten as a bread-type food.
So ... probably edible, but not the way you'd commonly think of eating it (corn on the cob)
The blue stuff is good if you can find it before drying. And you can buy popcorn still on the cob in some stores, quite good, and a blast to make with little kids around.
Off topic: Missing my friends. Dialup makes it very hard. So busy sometimes on the way home tears fall cause I'm so tired and wonder how long I can do this. I must be doing something wrong! LOL Congrats on the new job. Hugs Shoprat!
