Too Soon
I love Star Trek in about all of its incarnations but I'm not sure if I'm ready to have the old crew of the original series back played by new actors.
For most programs 40 years is plenty for a remake, but Shatner, Nimoy, etc have played these characters up until very recently.

yeah - think i've told you my wife is a serious trekkie - - she got some emails yesterday introducing the cast that will play the "young" "early days" of the original star trek gang.
the jist is that the movie will tell the tale of kirk's battle with nero as he went through his early training days. it's a tale that kirk spoke of on a couple of the show's...
supposedly going to be released during the 2008 Christmas movie cycle...
I've heard nothing of this.
The last I'd heard, was that the TV series was going to be updated, digitally, with the standard episodes and melded with digital background content.
It could be done well, if but Shatner is included. And others.
Without reference, it means nothing to us oldsters. And us Oldsters Pay The Freight when it comes to ticket purchase.
