I Hope He's Wrong

And I am betting that he is.

A Russian " expert on America" named Igor Panarin figures our country is doomed and is going to be divided into 6 Countries, none of them independent, and it's going to happen by the end of 09.

Let's see. China gets the west coast, Russia gets Alaska, Canada gets the Midwest, Mexico gets the South, Europe gets the East Coast and Hawaii goes to either Japan or China. (The Map was found by Fausta's Blog.)

While insurrection is possible, but by no means inevitable, I don't see the country splitting into 6 parts. Worst case scenario, it splits into two sections, one liberal/leftist and one moderate/conservative, if it happens at all. Even if it does happen, sections of the country will remain independent from other nations. The American Dream will not be killed by Russian Fascists, Chinese Socialists, European Elitists, or other countries.

This is little more than a pipe dream by an anti-American.

Pipe dream by an anti-american. Yes, definately. But the division of the country could indeed come, but by a different path. Who controls a majority of our debt? China. Now, what would happen if China dumped that debt on the global market? The dollar wouldn't be worth using as toilet paper. Sure, their economy would take a huge hit, but the outcome would be the disolving of the last super power on the planet.

Enter prophecy scholars and the end of days prophecies in ezekiel and daniel. Just a thought.

I hope he's wrong too. Just not sure that he's completely wrong.

For fear of appearing to put my head in the sand, I think this is a rediculous theory.

First, I do not see the country splitting.

Second, I love how he has these other countries staking a claim. Hell, Canada can barely keep itself together, Mexico is bankrupt, the EU is flailing, and Russia is a shadow of it's old self. There is a little relevance to the Chinese theory, but people in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona allowing themselves to be controlled by China?

Sarah Palin spoof "We don't know if Global Warming is man made or just a natural process of the End of Days"...

This Ruskie's thesis and the first comment above are both ridiculous.

I resent the fact that the media even reports this guy's b.s. The Wall Street Journal gave it lots of space yesterday.

Hmmm. I don't see four sections, but I can see two.

Didn't we try that a few years ago?

He's just bitter because it happened to them. Worst case scenario: NObama gets assassinated and a civil war breaks out, not delineated by color, but by ideology, the libtards against the conservatives. Guess which group has the most guns! It would be like a turkey shoot! Maybe they can bore us to death with constant chatter about global warming.

I agree with those who believe this to be nonsense, Shoprat, and with the fact that if we do split, it will be as you surmise in your post.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Shoprat. Well, nearly New Year's Eve, anyway. One thing I can predict about 2009: It won't be boring.

Greywolf Thanks for visiting. It's hard to tell so much about prophecy because was intentionally vague. If America is mentioned it is well hidden - for now.

Chuck, I do not consider a split likely but it is possible.

tim The first one was a spoof, but the second guy was serious.

joe I can't really see a six way split either.

aa That is the worst case scenario.

gayle. It may be a Happy New Year yet. Don't give up.

America may Balkanize but it won't be that quickly and it won't be without bloodshed. This Russian dude just regrets letting Alaska go for such a bad price.

AA, I trust that under an Obama administration, there is going to be surveillance of potential domestic terrorists. The relative anonymity of the internet is not a shield to the FBI and NSA. If I were you, I would keep my psychopathic fantasies about the assassination of a president you don't support and the murder of your fellow Americans who you disagree with under wraps.

And Shoprat, I wouldn't allow it on my site.

The article also reflects the rise in nationalism in Europe and Asia.

Anyway, I don't give the article any credibility. The author is supposedly an expert. But let's remember that it was experts who got the world into the present financial debacle.

Happy New Year, Shoprat. May 2009 bring you many blessings.

He's wrong, Shoprat. I read the WSJ piece and it was a laugher. The idea that Texas will be incorporated into some Mexico-dominate bloc alone is ridiculous. If anything, things will go the other way toward's transnational union, with more integration of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to meet the up and coming challenge of globalization.

"This is little more than a pipe dream by an anti-American."

You said it!

Great posting, in any case, and Happy New Year!

Quite right you are. Likely, it will be killed by the forces within as it is already. These forces, by they Socialist, Communist, or Fascist have one fundamental similarity; at their core is Collectivism.

It is this interior force of government which has already led us down this road by having American taxpayers insure other American's losses vis' a vis' Federal Disaster insurance for those building and rebuilding their homes in a flood plain, etc. Or, by forcing American taxpayers to subsidize the potential losses of farmers across this country. Or by, most recently, insuring bad investment on Wall Street or elsewhere.

Indeed Foreign threats are very much real. But, I'm much more inclined to think such a scenario would be as a result of our own doing.

It is what happens when someone who lives thousands of miles from a place starts to muse about matters they know nothing about.

There are numerous glaring fallacies here... First, SC, Tenn, KY and W.VA aligning with New England?! Are you kidding me? Those are the hotbeds of revolution and would die before even considering hooking up with Europe. Second, UT and ID heading to China? C'mon. They'd join Canada first. Third, the Southern states under Mexican influence? Who'd be influencing who? Fourth, Alaskans may go independent, but never to Russia... pipe dream. Fifth, the Midwest and Western states, especially Montana and Wyoming, have a rugged libertarian streak that would prevent them from aligning with liberal Canada. This guy obviously knows very little about American heart... except the part about New England hooking up with Europe. That part makes sense. I almost with they'd go do it already. Good riddance!

Should any revolution take place, the only scenario I could see would be the West Coast going its own way and New England going its own way. I think everyone else would pretty much stick together.

This was a good post, Shoprat. Kind of fun to fantasize over.
