Oops
I'll be visiting other blogs again Saturday evening.
UPDATE It was about 45 minutes before I went to work and I was link jumping through something that had my interest when my main anti-virus reported that an "Isolated Computer" was attempting to do something with my computer and offered to quarantine the offending software that made it possible. It quarantined my Firefox and rendered it unusable. I deleted Firefox entirely, used IE to download it again, including the added bonus of an updated version, and reinstalled it.

Bummer!
I went through computer misery because of viruses last month. No clue as to how they got past all my protection.
Looking forward to your return, Shoprat.
We all get a virus sooner or later. I'm hoping for later!
I'm hoping for never!
One of my boys downloaded a trojan horse last year, hijacked my homepage. Took me 6 hours of trying different programs before I got rid of it.
AOW mine came from following several links starting at Conservative Grapevine It was not their doing as I following several links in a story and went to the wrong place.
Gayle Unfortunately you are correct.
Wordsmith Hoping won't do it.
Chuck I once went to a page, years ago, that hijacked my homepage and told me that it wouldn't have happened if I had their anti-virus system installed.
I've had more trouble with IE and with Firefox.
However, the problems I had with Firefox were directly related to Norton Internet Security. Some kind of conflict which neither entity would resolve.
A techie told me that surfing the web as bloggers do makes out computers vulnerable, no matter how careful we are. **sigh**
I don't know about Chuck's TROJAN horse, but I am finally getting ONE SPAM and that's always the same :VIAGRA CIALLIS.!!
OY..>Thanks for the tip on what to do about Firefox, since I'm a techtard, I'm sending this to Mr. Z, so he'll better know what to do.
They said that last virus that was supposed to be so terrible hadn't even really started yet...maybe this is it. Oh, man.
good luck, Shoprat, glad you solved your problem xx
I wouldn't be smart enough to recognize a virus until the point that it killed my computer entirely.
BZ
The really frustrating thing is that infecting computers with viruses is some tech's idea of fun and gains him/her bragging rights.
Only a few are lucrative for their creator.
But worse than common thievery, they affect peoples' work, creativity and productivity.
What a pain!
