There is always a virus or two out there and wise users regularly use an anti-virus on their computer, along with a few other protections. To put it mildly, that is a good thing.
Some cretin has developed a virus that holds your computer ransom for $10.99. This guy is crazy because no matter how you pay it it would be tracable. It apparently originated in Russia but an English version is now available.

First off, I agee with pjc that this is not capitalism but extortion and no rebekah it is not socialism either. tim is right about that but about being fair, when it comes to economics "What is fair doesn't work and works isn't fair." That's just how it is; I don't like it but all attempts to change inevitably lead to something worse.

I never said Capitalism is "fair". Nothing in life is fair. But in capitalism you can work for something without anyone taking it away. That sounds fairer than a lot.
Hmmmm ... one of these days I'm gonna have to by some M$ based systems so I can have some of this fun I've been missing all these years... ;-)
