An Interesting Survey

Daily Kos talks about the Spitzer Dilemma and wants to know what readers think about it. Here is what the Chart for the survey looked like at about 11:10 EDT.

Interesting results. What they basically say is that it is better to have no moral values and live up (down?) to the absence of values then it is to have values that are difficult to live up to and sometimes fail.

Good point, Shoprat!

At least most conservatives attempt to live up to their values. Admittedly some succeed quite admirably and some fail, but that is the human condition. When we set moral standards and attempt to live up to those standards are we not doing better than those who set no standards at all? I think so!

What is the motivation to try to live above one's values? Why try to live more moral than what one believes is ncessary?

That said, I try to live up to my values, unfortunately I fail often.

Why am I not surprised by what the denizens of DailyKos think?

Sheesh!

But Shoprat, you have to admit that the left doesn't preach sex morals while the right does.

So the "anything goes" leftists have a right to call us hypocrites when the "family values" guys (like Foley, Craig and Vitter) lecture them but don't live up to their own standards.

It's fair game. "Put your money where your mouth is" comes off sounding better than "do as I say not as I do."

Craig, Vitter, McCain, Giuliani are all still activie politicians-Spitzer is not. Our perceptions of hypocracy vary..for example Craig and Vitter actively made it part of their campaign 'values',
hence, at least IMO, 'scored' higher on the hypocracy scale. Oddly, we continue to hear that
Republicans always lose office, while Dems don't. How ironic...
