Michigan's State Supreme Court
In spite of our "blue state" status (actually Michigan is a cultural red state and economic blue state) we have a reasonably conservative high court in Lansing.
And they're not Dhimmis. Congratulations to our state Supreme Court on a very wise and courageous ruling.
The US Constitution and our state Constitution both forbid secret and disguised witnesses in court which means the name must be known and the face must be seen in court. A Muslim woman sued because she was not allowed to cover her face in court. The State Supreme Court ruled against her.
If they want to swear tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help me God on the Koran, I have no problem with it. I do have a problem with hidden faces in the courtroom.

But see how the push keeps coming, Shoprat? Just as I posted today, there is an appeal to enable Sikhs to wear beards and turbans in the American military.
One day, yes, with newer appointees, decisions will be muted and diluted, as further will our AMERICAN culture.
This is OUR country, no one else's.

I have my doubts about the Koran portion of your posting. The definition of "truth" differs a lot from ours, particularly when Islamic hardliners are doing the interpreting.
Some Moslems today will say anything to put Islam in a positive light. Here in Northern Virginiastan, there will be an upcoming case with a load of Moslems who have been dealing drugs and participating in credit-card fraud. I suspect that their Moslem friends will get up on the stand and lie. Of course, they can just as easily lie when swearing on the Bible.
I guess that I've become quite the skeptic, huh?
A curse upon the bad lawyer who aided the woman in clogging the courts with this frivolous lawsuit.
Good for Michigan - with one of the largest Arab populations outside of the Middle East.
They do get it right at times.

AOW Point taken but people also perjure themselves on the Bible as well. There are some Muslims who have goodwill toward America and this is a small concession to them.

Yeah, Shoprat, but there are a few Muslims in that population that do stir things up from time to time. This lawsuit was one of them, and the mosque in Hamtramick was another.
Tom There are those who want to destroy us, but the ones who have goodwill toward us need to be encouraged to be Americans and to assist us against their bloodthirsty co-religionists.
Similar to the "drivers license" ruling. I think the right is upset that this so called "dhimmitude" has been exposed as a real pant load.
Nothing of the sort has happened.
